RTIAct, a revolutionary one, says Atmadeep

Free Press Journal: Indore: Monday, 11 August 2014.
“Out of all the acts came after the Independence in our country, the Right to Information Act is the most revolutionary one. This is a powerful tool for the laymen and it can change the scenario of our country,” Information Commissioner Atmadeep said.
Addressing media persons in a ‘Meet to Press’ programme on Saturday, Atmadeep said due to the RTI Act, the Union Government has changed.
“All the scams taken place during the tenure of UPA Government had come to fore only with the help of RTI. The 2G spectrum scam, Aadarsh Society scam, Augusta deal scam and Commonwealth Games scam were revealed by media through the RTI and later it had became the main issues for the political parties,” he said.
The Information Commissioner said that people still have to learn about the law for using it in an efficient way.
“With this law, people can ask the questions to the government and the public institutions just like a member of parliament asks in the house. Now, MP Information Commission is also going to start the online system for Lok Adalat,” he added.
