Goa Su-Raj Party (GSRP) has demanded an inquiry by
the governor's office and the state government into the
"discrepancies" in the tender floated and actual cost of the
construction work for a retaining wall for a kabrastan at Pajifond, Margao.
Addressing mediapersons, GSRP's Savio Rodrigues
said that RTI documents show that while the work was tendered for an amount of 2,08,79,465, the contractor raised a bill of just 1,20,68,631. "This
raises a question as to why the job was tendered to the contractor for a higher
price, and post the submission of a lower-price of recovery, did the government
save 88 lakh or was the money siphoned?" Rodrigues said.
GSRP demanded that the family, from whom the 16,000 sq m land was acquired, be compensated with alternative land immediately.
