Sohrabuddin
Sheikh was shot dead at point-blank range, reveals his post mortem report
exclusively accessed by Daily Bhaskar.
According to
the autopsy report obtained through an RTI query, five gun shots fired from
very close range were found on Sohrabuddin's body. Three shots were found on
his legs, one on upper part of the body and one in the head that left an exit
wound of 1.2 cm in the head.
The
post-mortem report clearly shows that shots were fired in the downward
direction, meaning thereby that Shohrabuddin was lying down or kneeling down at
the time of his alleged encounter.
This proves
wrong the police version of the sequence of events that he was attempting to
escape when was shot at.
The
post-mortem was jointly carried out by a team of doctors belonging to
Department of Forensic Medicine, B J Medical College and Ahmedabad Civil
Hospital.
Sohrabuddin
was killed at 4 am on November 26, 2005 in Gandhinagar in a joint operation
conducted by the Gujarat and Rajasthan police.
He along with
his wife Kauser Bi was allegedly picked up by Gujarat Police's Anti-Terrorism
Squad from Hyderabad.
The
'state-managed' encounter has once again hit headlines with the allegations of
involvement of Gulab Chand Kataria, Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly
and former Home Minister of the state.
The Central
Bureau of Investigation (CBI) booked Kataria for murder, hatching conspiracy of
the murder and destroying evidences.
Apart from
Kataria, the CBI also charged Andhra Pradesh Inspector General of Police
(Intelligence) N Balasubramanyam, Director of RK Marble Vimal Patni and another
Andhra Pradesh Police officer G Srinivasa Rao with murder, kidnapping, wrongful
confinement and causing disappearance of evidence.
