Youth killed over RTI against PDS shop owner

Business Standard: Meerut: Saturday, April 27, 2013.
A teenager was today shot dead by two persons, who allegedly came to eliminate his brother for filing an RTI application to expose "irregularities" in a PDS shop.
Omendra alleged that the accused, including shop owner Ajeet, sneaked into the house this morning and opened fire on his 18-year-old brother Tinku, killing him on the spot, police said.
The second accused Amit, who was later arrested, told police that they had mistakenly killed Tinku and their target was Omendra, they said.
He said Omendra had filed an RTI seeking to expose irregularities in the functioning of the fair price shop of his friend and co-accused Ajeet, which had angered them.
Despite repeated warnings, Omendra had refused to withdraw the RTI, Amit told police.
A manhunt has been launched to nab Ajeet, who is still at large, police said.
