'No info on BPL cards'

PANCHKULA: The district administration has made a mockery of the Right to Information Act as the departments concerned are not providing adequate information. Alleging this on Friday, senior BJP leader Gyan Chand Gupta said despite three applications filed under the RTI Act, officials provided peace-meal answers about the process and eligibility criteria for allotting BPL cards.

Authorities provided information that 13,181 persons benefitted under BPL scheme. Out of these, 8,269 from slum areas and 3,427 from Barwala block were given cards. 1,485 cards were distributed in Kalka, Pinjore, Raitan, Doon, and Raipur Rani
