PIL seeks CBI probe into Dubey’s ‘fake B-School’ cert

Times of India: Ranchi: Tuesday, 08 September 2020.
A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in Jharkhand high court seeking Godda MP Nishikant Dubey’s arrest for allegedly procuring a fake management degree from Delhi University’s Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) on Monday. The Delhi University vice-chancellor and FMS director have also been made a party in the petition.
Calling for a CBI probe into the rumours against the BJP lawmaker, petitioner Danyaal Danish, a resident of Jamshedpur, also arraigned the Election Commission and sought an immediate termination of Dubey’s membership from the Lok Sabha for furnishing “wrong information while filing his nomination form during the 2009, 2014 and 2019 general elections”.
The petitioner added that documents obtained from Delhi University through the Right to Information (RTI) Act confirmed that no person by the name of Nishikant Dubey has ever been granted a degree by the varsity.
Danish’s counsel Rajeev Kumar said FMS is known for its MBA curriculum and students graduating from the institute here are offered salary packages running into lakhs of rupees from various multinational companies. During a placement programme in 2020, an FMS student secured a salary package of 58.8 lakh while 100 other students received an annual package of Rs 31 lakh, Kumar said.
