A
Panipat-based RTI activist has obtained details of expenses during the
International Gita Mahotsava-2017 (IGM-2017) after pursuing it for about two
years. The information sourced under the RTI Act revealed that actor and
Mathura MP Hema Malini of BJP and her crew were paid Rs 29.17 lakh for their
performances at the event. North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, also from BJP, was
given Rs 15 lakh.
Also,
10 copies of Bhagavad Gita Signature Edition, costing Rs 37,500 each, were
given as gift to VVIPs and Rs 3.79 lakh was spent on this.
As
per the information, seven of these copies were gifted to President Ram Nath
Kovind, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar,
former Union minister Uma Bharti, former Union minister of state for railways
Rajen Gohain, RSS member Ram Lal and Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar.
The
bill for the event was footed by the Kurukshetra Development Board.
