Edu Dept fails to file report on Madras HC orders

Tribune India: Chandigadh: Monday, September 10, 2018.
The UT Education Department has gone blank on filing the report on action taken by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on compliance with the Madras High Court orders of ‘no homework’ decree for Classes I and II.
The report on the compliance with the orders was sought from from the Education Secretaries of all state governments/UT administration vide the MHRD letter dated June 29. A reminder was also issued on July 18. The report was sought to be submitted before the high court.
A Right to Education (RTI) reply, dated August 7, on the status of the report from the Principal Secretaries of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh revealed that the ministry received no action taken report.
BL Sharma, Education Secretary, said: “I am unaware of any such orders by the MHRD. However, if they have asked a report, we are bound to act on it. We will take an action on Monday.”
