They oppose
amendement to Act
Representatives
of the United Forum for Right to Information and RTI activists staged a
demonstration against the proposed amendments to RTI Act here on Monday.
They
threatened to intensify agitation if the Union government failed to withdraw
the proposed amendments. Chakradhar Buddha of the United Forum for RTI, said
the NDA government wanted to exercise control over salary and tenure of the
information commissioners, prompting them to become mere puppets in the hands
of the government. Coordinator of the Public Forum K. Venkataramana and others
took part in the protest.
