The Chief
Information Commissioner, Khursheed Ahmed Ganai stressed upon the Public
Information Officers (PIOs) for ensuring the information under the Jammu and Kashmir
Right to Information Act in a hassle free manner.
In this
regard, an interactive session was held by Ganai with the officers of Jammu
Municipal Corporation here on Friday in which all the Public Information
Officers and Officers associated with the disposal of RTI applications were
present.
While
acknowledging the diverse nature of public functions being performed by Jammu
Municipal Corporation (JMC) and large number of RTI applications being received
in the Corporation, Ganai appreciated the Commissioner JMC for appointing PIOs
for different wings/sections of JMC which shall result in speedy and effective
disposal of RTI applications.
The Chief
Information Commissioner, J&K handed over the new print of Jammu and
Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2009 along with J&K Right to Information
Rules, 2012 to M. Raju, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation. He advised
the PIOs to have an understanding of the Transparency Act and ensure that the
information under the Act is disseminated in a hassle free manner.
After
assessing detailed status of RTI Appeals, the Chief Information Commissioner
advised the Jammu Municipal Corporation to create a robust system for receipt
and disposal of RTI applications and also erect a bill board at the main
entrance giving among other type of information the names of Public Information
Officers and First Appellate Authority.
