KP RTI Commission gets new chief

The provincial government has appointed Azmat Hanif Orakzai as chief commissioner of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information (RTI) Commission.
According to a notification issued on Friday, the provincial government made the appointment under the provisions contained in Section 24 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information Act, 2013.
He will hold the office for a term of three years from the date on which he enters office or till he attains the age of 65, whichever is earlier.
Azmat Hanif Orakzai, who is considered as architect of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information Act 2013 in the province, is currently serving as chief commissioner of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Services (RTS) Commission.
He contributed to drafting of the RTI law for province as secretary Information Department during the previous as well as incumbent government tenures. The position of the chief commissioner RTI Commission fell vacant after the completion of the tenure of Capt (R) Sahibzada Khalid Khan on August 17.
