Organizations urge cops to probe 'missing road' case

enerally, cops receive complaints about missing of individuals, animals or valuable movable items. Cops of Ankali station received a complaint about missing of 2kms road by the different organization. Shri Allamaprabhu Annadana Samiti led by social worker Chandrakant Hukkeri in association with Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and Karnataka Praja Vedike registered the complaint urging police department couple of days ago to find out the road which has been missing within three months.
The road work between Ankali and Nasalapur Bridge had taken by the panchayat raj engineering department in 2014-15 under NABARD in the cost of Rs 1 crore. It's a road work of 2kms length and 5.5 meters width. According to information asserted on plaque- road work begins on October 4,2015 and completes till April 3,2016.
According to social worker Chandrakant Hukkeri, department made the tar road but it washed away to the rainwater within two weeks. Now, there is no sign of the tar road at all. The new road is 'missing' completely. "I have received information about the road under RTI Act. Information says contractor has to maintain road till next three years. But although road has washed away within 15 days, road contractor hasn't returned back to look the condition of road he made", Hekkeri said speaking to the TOI.
Apart from registering complaint in police station, organizations have also submitted memorandum to ZP CEO Bagadi Goutam. When asked Bagadi Goutam said he will look into the case seriously and take stringent action if irregularities found. According to Ankali PSI Veeranna Latti, although organizations in a memorandum written about missing of road, it's a complaint about sub-standard work. "I have verified with the officials of PRED Chikkodi sub-division who said the road work is still in progress and grants also not released to the concerned contractor. The complaint has forwarded to concerned department for inquiry", PSI said.
