The Bombay
High Court has directed the state government to make available documents
pertaining to appointments and transfer of the State Information Commissioners
(SIC) in the state.
The two-judge
bench gave this direction while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL)
filed by RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar who, in his petition, asked for clarity on
who can effect the transfer of SICs in the state.
In a major
reshuffle in 2014, Ratnakar Gaikwad, the SIC chief, had effected the transfer
of the SICs in the state and Kumbhar had challenged the decision.
