As per the documents, Chhattisgarh had sold 15,32,363 quintals of rice worth Rs 346 crore in that particular year. However, as per information obtained from the Chhattisgarh government, it sold rice worth Rs 346,31,55,658 to Karnataka. But, the state government is saying it had purchased rice worth Rs 383 crore. Speaking to Express, RTI activist Marilingegowda Mali Patil said, “The State government spent Rs 22.60 per kg of rice. While Chhattisgarh government has stated that it charged Karnataka Rs 2,260 per quintal.
The state government’s Anna Bhagya scheme under which it is providing rice to the poor at Rs 1 a kg has turned out to be Kanna (cheating) Bhagya for some! Information obtained through the Right to Information Act reveals that in the year 2013-14, the state government had spent Rs 383,09,24,400 to buy rice from the Chhattisgarh government. However, as per information obtained from the Chhattisgarh government, it sold rice worth Rs 346,31,55,658 to Karnataka. The question now is about the Rs 36 crore which is not accounted for? According to the information provided from the Chhattisgarh government, they are selling rice to Karnataka in quintals.
However the state government is saying it is paying Chhattisgarhon a per kg basis. While Chhattisgarh government has stated that it charged Karnataka Rs 2,260 per quintal. The Karnataka government has said it paid Rs 25 per kg. As per the documents, Chhattisgarh had sold 15,32,363 quintals of rice worth Rs 346 crore in that particular year.
