Govt appoints Tendulkar as new CIC

Times of India: Goa: Sunday, 13 December 2015.
The state government has appointed former additional president of Goa state administrative tribunal, South Goa, Prashant Tendulkar as chief information commissioner (CIC).
The government also appointed writer and lawyer Juino de Souza and senior public prosecutor Pratima Vernekar as state information commissioners (SIC).
They will assume charge after the oath of office will be administered to them by the state governor. Goa governor Mridula Sinha has granted her assent to appoint CIC and SICs for the state.
Last month, the state cabinet had decided to recommend the appointment of Tendulkar, as the new CIC and Vernekar, and D'Souza, as the new SICs.
It was only after an RTI forum moved the court and the media highlighted the plight of citizens who have nowhere to go in view of the posts lying vacant, that the government initiated the process to fill the posts, sources said.
