After
witnessing Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh making announcements
to make public the derails of properties owned by former chief minister and
leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal within and outside Himachal Pradesh, an
RTI activist has filed an application seeking details of information on which
Virbhadra Singh was making statements.
Dev Ashish
Bhattacharya who has filed the RTI application said that statements of
Virbhadra Singh appearing in the media suggest that he knows about the property
details Dhumal. He said that on this basis he filed an RTI application on October
13 and sought the copies of the records on the strength of which the chief
minister issued such statement.
He said that
on October 15 he wrote a letter to Virbhadra Singh elaborating the consequences
of his statements. "I asked the chief minister that he cannot remain a
silent spectator if he has all the documentary evidences against Dhumal and
that he is duty bound to initiate action against him," he added.
Bhattacharya
said that in the letter he further told that if would not initiate any action against
the Dhumal then it will be presumed that Virbhadra Singh is using black mailing
tactics on Dhumal so that he should remain silent on the wrong doings of the
chief minister.
He said that
contents of the oath and the constitutional responsibilities of the chief
minister are bound to be obeyed in any case.
