Officer fined, but no info after 9 hearings

Times of India: Ahmedabad: Tuesday, 01 September 2015.
85-Yr-Old Applicant Dejected, May Move The HC.
After going through nine hearings at the Gujarat informa tion Commission (GIC), Jivanlal Shah, 85, is dejected -despite a victory of sorts. Recently, he received an order from the GIC which imposed a fine on an officer for not providing information to Shah, but failed to direct the department ensure that the information is furnished. “What's the s point of fining an officer if the GIC cannot ensure that f information is provided to the applicant?“ said Shah.
The order was issued by information commissioner V S Gadhvi in which a fine of Rs 10,000 was imposed on the district registrar of co-operatives, Chetan Parmar.“I wrote to the commission seeking an amendment to the order, but there has been no response,“ said Shah.
Shah has been applying for information to the Ah medabad district registrar of co-operatives regarding the copies of administrative papers of BOI staff cooperative housing society.Shah had demanded information related to the accounts and elections pertaining to the society. Shah had approached the commission for the first time in August 2012.
Shah may now have to approach the high court for information because of the “faulty“ order. “Why should a citizen be harassed in such a manner?“ said Shah. “It is my basic right as guaranteed under the RTI Act.“
