September 2015.
If you have
been complaining to the vigilance departments of the state or even the
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) regarding failure of officials to ensure
quality civic services then you will surely hit a roadblock. In two recent RTI
applications filed with the state vigilance commission and AMC's vigilance
department the replies said that both these departments have no time limits to
submit investigation reports of corruption and malpractice complaints against
government officers.
An RTI
application filed by Jivanlal Shah before the Gujarat Vigilance Commission
(GVC) recently seeking to know the deadline for investigating cases and
submitting reports revealed that the department does not work under any time
frame.
Another RTI
applicant, Pankaj Bhatt, a resident of Kalupur, got a similar reply from AMC's
vigilance department. The civic body's probe wing has declared that they too do
not adhere to any time limits.
