Commissioner Shankar R. Patil has asked the Additional Chief Secretary and
Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department to initiate immediate
disciplinary action against Kalaburagi City Corporation Commissioner S.B.
Kattimani and former Commissioner C. Nagaiah. “They have deliberately violated
the Right to Information (RTI) Act and denied the information sought under the
provisions of the Act by the former Minister S.K. Kanta for six years,” he said
in an order passed on April 28.
Mr. Patil has
further asked the government to take disciplinary action against Ameen Mukthar,
the then zonal commissioner - 4 of the city corporation, and Shamshuddin, zonal
commissioner - 2 of the City Corporation, under section 20 (2) of the RTI Act
for denial of providing information within the stipulated period.
He also
expressed his dismay over the failure of the Additional Chief Secretary and
Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department to issue proper directions
to Mr. Kattimani to provide the information sought under the Act by Mr. Kanta,
as directed by the Commission earlier.
Mr. Kanta had
sought the information pertaining to illegal houses and other constructions in
survey no 10/1, 10/2 in Hussain Garden and wanted to know if these illegal
constructions have been regularised with all details and maps under the RTI Act
in December 2008. Aggrieved by the denial of information sought under RTI, Mr.
Kanta approached the Karnataka Information Commission seeking necessary
directions.
