MP inaugurated metro project that doesn't exist, reveals RTI

DNA: New Delhi: Thursday, 19 February 2015.
In a shocking revelation made through RTI, information has come that MP North West inaugurated a metro extension project that has not yet even been launched by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Dr. Udit Raj, MP North West Delhi, had inaugurated Badli-Siraspur metro extension project in December last year. Local councillor Angoori Devi was also present on the occasion.
But when an RTI was filed to know the status of the project, reply from DMRC said that neither any such project has been inaugurated in the knowledge of DMRC nor the tenders have been passed yet.
The reply also says that DMRC has not even acquired any land for the project.
Now the question arises that if DMRC is yet to acquire land for the extension line from Badli to Siraspur and no tender has been passed for the project as yet, how can the MP inaugurates such project that doesn't even exist?
The RTI was filed by former MLA from Badli assembly Devendra Yadav.
The demand for metro station in Siraspur village started more than a year back when project of extension from Jahangirpuri to Badli was launched by DMRC. The villagers also sat on protest for more than eight months after which DMRC agreed to extend the metro line up to Siraspur. Local public representatives had supported the demand of villagers and also joined the protest at times. When assembly elections came closer, the race to grab credit began and some local BJP leaders arranged for an inauguration ceremony in haste. BJP MP from North West Dr. Udit Raj inaugurated the project as chief guest.
The incident clearly reveals that yet another effort by BJP to lure rural voters failed in Delhi as their candidate stood third in the assembly elections.
The villagers have no clue when the project is going to start as DMRC is yet to start the process and no time/deadline has been fixed for the project.
