Deputy
Superintendent of Police (Crime) Sujogya Mishra on Tuesday conducted an inquiry
into the alleged corruption in line transplantation of paddy saplings in Niali
block of Cuttack district.
A farmer of
Nachhigan in the block, Krupasindhu Sahoo, was murdered on January 26 after he
filed an RTI application to know the money spent on line transplantation of
paddy saplings under the ongoing Bringing Green Revolution in Eastern India
(BGREI) project in Krushna Prasad gram panchayat.
Mishra
visited the Assistant Agriculture Office in Niali block and collected
information about 467 beneficiaries who had taken up line transplantation of
saplings in 750.5 acres of land under BGREI scheme in the gram panchayat. He
also held discussion with Assistant Agriculture Officer Prashant Kumar Sahoo.
Meanwhile,
Cuttack Sadar SDPO Nrusingha Charan Swain, who is investigating the murder
case, interrogated the five persons who were accused of threatening
Krupasindhu. After Krupasindhu’s death, his wife Laxmi had informed the police
that five persons had threatened him of dire consequences if he sought RTI
information on BGREI.
Laxmi, who
along with her sons had left her house on Monday after receiving threat from
some unknown persons, returned on Tuesday.
Police have
set up a camp in front of her house for the family’s security.
