Deccan Herald: New Delhi: Thursday, 24 July 2014.
At the government-run
Deen Dayal Upadhyay, 12 people were allegedly found to have forged their caste
certificates while seeking appointment at the hospital.
These men
were appointed in 2012. The matter was exposed a month ago after an RTI was
filed in the sub-district magistrate’s office from where the caste certificates
were issued.
According to
an administration official, they were appointed around the same time in the
hospital. The men were appointed in the posts of “staff nurse” in the hospital.
“In 2012, these
men were appointed in the post of staff nurse in the hospital.
An RTI report
found that the men had forged their caste certificates and gained entry into
the posts under the OBC category.
The RTI was
filed by a person in the SDM’s office from where the caste certificates were
churned out,” said Dr Bharat Singh, the hospital’s medical superintendent.
The hospital
administration has not taken any step against the accused in the alleged
forgery case so far.
This is
because the appointments were made through the State Health Department.
The hospital
administration can decide on the course of action only after the department
takes up the matter.
“The persons
who allegedly produced fake certificates are still on duty. We have prepared
detailed reports and forwarded it to the State Health Department. Since all the
appointments were made at the state level, we cannot take decisions
independently. We are awaiting the government’s report in the next one month,” said
Dr Singh.
If found
guilty, they might face suspension. Their services might be terminated as well
for forging documents. The hospital administration is not sure yet if the men
are part of a racket.
