Times of India: Pune: Tuesday, 06 May 2014.
Two days after the Shivajinagar police registered
a non-cognizable complaint against a sub-inspector for allegedly slapping a
woman constable, city police commissioner Satish Mathur has ordered an inquiry
into the incident.
Joint commissioner of police Sanjeev Kumar said
that the deputy commissioner of police (headquarters) will conduct an inquiry
and submit its report as soon as possible.
Kumar said that sub-inspector Macchindra Shinde
and the woman constable were subjected to medical examination to determine her
charges that he was drunk and had slapped her. The medical reports are awaited,
he said, adding that the constable has filed 150 RTI applications for seeking
various kind of information from the police commissionerate. The Shivajinagar
police had booked Shinde under section 510 (misconduct in public by drunk
person) of the Indian Penal Code on May 3.
In her complaint, the woman constable had said
that Shinde was in an inebriated condition when the incident took place at the
entrance of the police headquarters on Saturday night.
She had filed an RTI application in February
asking if a sub-inspector can occupy a quarter in the police colony meant for
constables. Shinde, who was occupying a flat, had to vacate it after the
application.
The complaint states that Shinde had stopped her
at the entrance of the headquarters to ask her the reason for the RTI
application. When she did not respond, Shinde again asked her before slapping
her. tnn
