Two days after sending a legal notice to
Chancellor of state universities and Governor Ram Naresh adav over inaction on
the VS Kokje inquiry commission report, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki
Vishwavidyalaya ( RGPV) former executive council member Ajay Chordia on
Thursday said that he had sent one more notice to the Chancellor. “ The latest
one is pertaining to an attempt by the Devi
Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya to save Prof Jayant
Sonwalkar, a faculty with Institute of Management Studies, over plagiarism
issue” Chordia told reporters. He stated that Prof Sonwalkar had prepared his
PhD thesis by copying from thesis of other researchers and added that a
complaint regarding this was lodged by him on October 11, 2011.
Following the complaint, the university had sent
copies of Sonwalkar’s thesis to two subject experts who did not find plagiarism
charges true in the examination. The university through a letter dated January 23, 2013 had informed Chordia that his charges against Sonwarlkar were found untrue
in the inquiry.
But Chordia did not believe the university and
claimed that the then vice chancellor Prof Rajkamal tampered with the thesis of
Sonwalkar by removing the pages which were copied from thesis of other researchers
before sending it to the subject experts and thereby managed to get an inquiry
report favouring Sonwalkar.
Chordia used RTI Act and sought a copy of the
thesis sent to the subject experts and a copy of inquiry report but his request
was turned down citing relevant articles of the Act.
