The civic
departments in Pimpri-Chinchwad are yet to submit the required documents of
projects costing over Rs 399 crore completed by them in the last 24 years to
the audit department. The audit department has shown this amount as 'pending'
with the civic departments.
The
information was provided by the corporation's audit department in reply to an
RTI query by citizen activist Vitthal Vinod.
When asked
about the issue, municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi said he would examine
the matter and take necessary action.
Vinod had
sought information about the pending audit objections, objectionable amount and
recoverable amount of all civic departments from 1982-83 onwards, when the
municipal corporation came into existence. The audit department has given a
13-page reply, providing details of 126 civic departments and offices.
A civic
official said the departments have to submit documents of the various
permissions they had obtained while implementing different projects. But due to
some reason, the officials concerned with a particular project, have failed to
provide these documents. As a result, during the audit, the amount spent on
such projects has been shown as pending by the audit department due to
unavailability of records.
The official
said there are various technicalities involved in projects which need to be
explained to the audit department. Once the officials explain these
technicalities and clear the doubts of the audit department, the amount does
not have to be recovered.
