Three PIOs fined R 25,000 each for not providing information.

The Bihar State Information Commission has fined the Public Information Officers (PIOs) of Vaishali, Banka and Saharsa Rs 25,000 each for not providing information to the applicants under the RTI.

Information Commissioner Farzand Ahmed on Wednesday imposed the penalties on the PIO-cum-Block Development Officer-cum- Programme Officer, Lalganj, Vaishali, PIO-cum-BDO-cum-Programme Officer, Nauhatta, Saharsa and PIO-cum-Circle Officer-Chakbandi Officer, Amarpur, Banka for not providing information to the applicants under the RTI.

Ahmed directed the district magistrates of Vaishali, Saharsa and Banka to deduct Rs 25,000 from the salaries of the PIOS in five monthly instalments of Rs 5,000 each and intimate the Information Commission in this regard.

Ahmed also directed the three PIOs to provide information to the applicants by the next 15 days and appear before the commission on March 16 next.
