NEW DELHI: Haryana government is planning to revoke preferential allotment of plots or flats in the state. So far, the state government has allotted three plots under this category. Former Army chief General Deepak Kapoor, his successor General V K Singh and boxer Sushil Kumar have been the beneficiary of the scheme.
In an RTI reply to Subhash Agarwal, the Haryana government has admitted that the state had proposed to give plots at Panchkula and flats in Gurgaon to all MPs and MLAs from the state. However, the allotment is on hold since the issue is still pending before the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
In the past, the state government had even built a huge residential apartment in Gurgaon Jan Pratinidhi Apartment for the then sitting MLAs at a discounted price. Later, most of these flats were sold off by the public representatives.
The state government has admitted that General Kapoor had requested for a preferential allotment of plot to Haryana CM, and he was given one in Gurgaon. Subsequently, he also sought the state government's permission to sell the plot.
He is the only allottee to seek such a permission from the government. "No such application was cleared by the state,'' the RTI reply said.
Sources said the state government had framed a policy to give plots/flats to serving defence chiefs and chief justices and other dignitaries, who had a Haryana domicile, under the preferential category.
