Information Commission delegation meets Governor

Orissa POST: Bhubaneswar: Friday, 5 September 2025.
A delegation of Odisha Information Commission, led by State Chief Information Commissioner Manoj Parida, called on Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at Raj Bhavan Wednesday. They briefed the Governor regarding various activities of the commission and recent steps taken to expedite disposal of pending cases.
The Governor expressed happiness about fast disposal of pending cases and complimented the commission for introducing best practices from Information Commissions of other states. He suggested that various government officials dealing with RTI matters should be provided with proper training in training institutions. He also stated that more awareness should be created among people in tribal areas in remote districts to take advantage of RTI Act for redressal of grievances. The commission members submitted that proper digitalisation has been introduced in the disposal of cases. The appellants are able to file their appeals online, and all orders passed by the commission are also available to the general public on its official website.
The Governor advised the commissioners to visit different district headquarters and hold hearings there so that the appellants do not have to take the trouble to travel to Bhubaneswar for the hearing of cases. He advised the commission to further expedite disposal and to reduce pendency to a minimal level. Commissioners Susanta Kumar Mohanty, Jagannath Rath, Pranabindu Acharya, Pabitra Mandal and Kalpana Pattnaik attended the meeting and thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to the commission to brief on its activities.
