The Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma has demanded an inquiry into a result scam for recruitment to the posts of three junior reporters from the scheduled tribe category way back in May 2017. Describing this as gross deprivation of ST category candidates by then speaker Ramendra Debnath, Ranjit said that in the exam for recruitment of three ST candidates , two ST candidates Nishi Kanta Debbarma and Tanika Debbarma were shown to have scored zero in the written exam held on 50 marks in the aggregate . But the answer scripts sought to be seen by one candidate Nishi Kanta Debbarma through RTI was not provided though their names of two candidates figured in the waiting panel . Actually Nishi Kanta had obtained 66 marks and Tanika had scored 56 marks out of a total of 170 from written test , type and short-hand test and interview.
Ranjit has appealed to the speaker to look into the
matter in all seriousness to ensure that the deprivation is neutralized and the
deprived candidates are appointed. He also expressed his shock and
disappointment over the manner in which two ST category candidates having
requisite qualification had been deprived of their due and demanded that steps
be taken to ensure that such things do not occur in future.
