The government appointed four new commissioners to the State Information Commission under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The newly appointed RTI Commissioners include senior journalists Boreddy Ayodhya Reddy and P.V. Srinivasa Rao, while the other two are Mohsina Parveen and Deshala Bhoopal. Mr. Ayodhya Reddy is presently the Chief Public Relations Officers (CPRO) of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
The appointments of RTI Commissioners have been pending for long. Recently, senior officer of the Indian Forest Service, Chandrashekhar Reddy was appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner. A few names sent by the government to the Governor were kept pending for some clarifications.
However, after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met the Governor, Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday morning, few names were apparently cleared and orders were issued. The new RTI Commissioners have to face a huge backlog of applications pending due as a result of depleted staff all these years.
