The Maharashtra government
has recommended former Nagpur Information Commissioner Rahul Pande for the
Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) post under the RTI Act. The file has been
sent to Governor CP Radhakrishnan for final approval. The position was previously
held by Sumit Mullick, who has now retired.

As per a report by The Times of India, the recommendation file has been sent to governor CP Radhakrishnan in order to acquire a final approval.
The said post was previously held by Sumit Mullick, who has now retired.
Who Is Rahul Pande?
Pande is a former journalist, who worked with the Hitavada newspaper in Nagpur. The 51-year-old was handpicked by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ government for the post of Nagpur’s Information Commissioner. He served the position from October 2021 to October 2024, completing a 3-year term. As per reports, he additionally held charge of the Amravati and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar divisions.
