The Pakistan Information Commission, in collaboration with the Press Network of Pakistan, has introduced the Pakistan RTI Quiz Contest 2024 to improve public awareness of good governance.
The online quiz consists of ten questions pertaining to the Right of Access to Information Act, 2017, requiring participants to answer each within 30 seconds. Entries are open until September 25, 2024, with winners to be announced on the International Day for Universal Access to Information, September 28, 2024.
Chief Information Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui called the Right of Access to Information Act a revolutionary law that enables citizens to request information from public authorities.
He encouraged citizens, particularly students, journalists, and young people, to take part in the contest, stressing the essential role of informed citizens in fostering good governance and influencing policy decisions.
Sabahuddin Qazi, Chief Executive of the Press Network of Pakistan, highlighted the initiative’s purpose of addressing the widespread lack of knowledge about RTI laws and promoting civic engagement.
He praised the Pakistan Information Commission for its significant rulings that uphold transparency and human rights.
The RTI Quiz Contest 2024 is part of a broader awareness campaign aimed at addressing the issues stemming from limited public understanding of the Right to Information.
This initiative aspires to cultivate a more informed and engaged populace, empowering citizens to play an active role in governance and decision-making.
