Modern Ghana: Ghana: Thursday, 18 January 2024.
The Right To Information (RTI) Commission has directed all public institutions in the country to furnish the commission with a comprehensive written report on their Right To Information Activities.
The various public institutions are expected to comply with this directive in accordance with the Right To Information (RTI), Act 2019, Act 989 by Saturday, 31 March 2024 to “avoid potential penalties”.
In a statement, the RTI commission noted that the report to be submitted should encompass details including “the number of information applications received between January 2023 and December 2023.
“The number of approved rejected applications, along with the reasons for any rejections; the number of reviews requested, and of which, granted or dismissed, accompanied by the reasons for dismissal and any applications made to the court for Judicial, along with the outcomes, if applicable”.
It reminded public institutions that, as “per Section 77 of Act 989, these reports must be submitted to the Commission within sixty (60) days after December 31 each year,” while “non-compliance may result in penalties”.
