The Information Commission Bangladesh (ICB) today fined a DGM of Polli Biddut Samity for delay in providing information and obstructing the implementation of RTI Act.
The commission also ordered departmental action against a Union Parishad secretary for not providing information to an applicant under the RTI Act.
Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Dr. Abdul Malek and commissioners Shahidul Alam Jhinuk and Masuda Bhatti gave this order after hearing of the concerned parties, a press release said.
In the hearing, it was proved that the DGM of Taraganj Zonal Office of Rangpur Palli Bidyut Samity-2 has delayed in providing information requested by the applicant under the RTI Act and had obstructed implementation of the RTI Act.
On the other hand the secretary of Kulla Union Parishad of Dhamrai Upazila of Dhaka knowingly neglected to provide information and did not give the information requested by the applicant.
A total of 12 complaints were put up for hearing today and out of those nine were disposed off.
