During his five-year (2017-22) tenure as state information commissioner, Sangwan had disposed off 474 complaints under Section 18 (2), and 4,694 second appeals under Section 19 (3) of the RTI Act, 2005.
Former state information commissioner Arun Sangwan, who is considered a close confidante of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, was on Sunday appointed as chairperson of Haryana State Food Commission.
The mandate of the state food commission is to monitor the implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013. As chairperson, sources said, making the commission a worthy arm of the government to serve the needs of those below the poverty line would be a key challenge for Sangwan.
