‘No info on panel for deputing commissioner for disabled’

The directorate of specially-abled persons has stated that no information was maintained with the department regarding an order issued for the formation of a search-cum-selection committee for the appointment of commissioner for persons with disabilities (PwDs) in the state, a reply to an RTI application has revealed.
However, as per Section 24 of the Rajasthan Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2018, the state government must set up a search-cum-selection committee, which will select a panel of three eligible candidates for appointment to the post of commissioner. The names will be sent to the state government by the committee. The RTI application and first appeal were filed by applicant P P Gupta.
The directorate also said that the files pertaining to the selection process of the search-cum-selection committee for appointment of the commissioner, the selection process of three eligible candidates for the panel, minutes of the meetings of the search-cum-selection committee and dates of meetings would be shared with the applicant on receiving it from the chief minister’s office (CMO), a reply to first appeal of an RTI application (dated: April 26) stated.
Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that Uma Shankar Sharma was appointed as commissioner for persons with disabilities (PwDs) in the state.
The reply to the first appeal further stated, on seeking copies of application forms and other related documents of three eligible candidates selected for the panel, while copies of application forms were made available to the applicant, other related documents were not shared with him as Sharma wrote to the department urging it not to do so.
