A Right
to Information Act activist accused the Municipal Council Baramulla of denying
information regarding the purchases related to COVID pandemic by the Council.

Activist Siraj ud din Salam told KNS that he had asked for information about
beneficiaries and fund distribution of housing for all scheme from MC Baramulla
but was denied by the authorities.
“Then I
filed for the first appeal before Director Urban Local Bodies and only after
that I was provided 10 per cent of information which I asked and that is not
readable. They have done it deliberately,” he told KNS.
He also
informed KNS that MC Baramulla did not provide details about Building
permissions in Baramulla town, revenue being collected from the rent of shops
and mobile towers.
I even
filed first appeal before director Urban Local Bodies also, but I have yet to
get the information, he told KNS.
He
sought probe by Anti-Corruption Bureau in the case. (KNS)
