Gupta has also expressed grievance about non-supplying information by the institute under the Right to Information (RTI) Act provisions about the break-up of score, sources said.
The
Gujarat high court has reserved its verdict on a petition filed by a student,
Raghav Gupta, who has challenged the admission process of the Indian Institute
of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) claiming that undue weightage is given to
personal interview.
Last
month, the HC had ordered the premier institute to keep one seat vacant, in
case Gupta succeeded in his litigation challenging his non-inclusion in the
list of successful candidates for admission. On Friday Gupta’s counsel Naveen
Pahwa and IIM’s advocate Nandish Chudgar concluded their arguments.
The
petitioner candidate stated in his petition that he has an excellent CAT score
– 99.95 percentile, but fell a little short in securing a berth for IIM-A’s
flagship Post Graduate Programme in management. Gupta is a commerce graduate
from Ahmedabad University.
Gupta
has questioned the admission process saying that IIM-A gives undue weightage to
personal interview. It is 50% of total points whereas the interview process
should not have more than 15% weightage in admission process. The final
selection is done on basis of personal interview (50%), AWT (10%), CAT score
(25%) and Application Rating (15%)
Gupta
claimed that he scored 206.86 marks in CAT 2019 examination, 99.95 percentile,
enough to easily walk in the premier management institute. He ranked in the top
110 students across the country. However, when the IIM-A declared its admission
list, his name was missing.
