The
Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) has designated three RTI officers as
Appellate Authority, Public Information Officer and Assistant Public
Information Officer in the commission with immediate effect.
An
official statement from the DIPR on Tuesday evening said that this was notified
by the commission. The appointed officers are: Appellate Authority (AA) Kevekha
Kevin Zehol, secretary to NPSC, Public Information Officer (PIO) Kelhouseto
Nakhro, deputy secretary, and assistant public information officer (APIO) C
Yimtsu Lotha, under secretary.
The
commission had been in the news during the recently-concluded state Assembly,
where the Nagaland Opposition had questioned the neutral and impartial role of
the NPSC after a former student leader pointed out the “manipulation” of the
NPSC exam by deputy chief minister Y Patton, over a speech during a local
gathering. Following a complaint lodged by the student leader in the Nagaland
Lokayukta which also highlighted Patton’s “offer” to candidates who clears the
written exam in NPSC, a preliminary probe was ordered by the Lokayukta.
