Times of India: Shimla: Sunday, September 16,
2018.
Slain BSP leader Kedar Singh Jindan’s
wife Hemlata has demanded a CBI probe into his murder. On the morning of
September 7, Jindan was first brutally assaulted and then run over by a Scorpio
on the road heading towards Bakras village allegedly by people whom Jindan had
exposed.
Addressing mediapersons here on Saturday,
Hemlata said that Jindan had informed the police about the threat to his life
but despite complaint, the police did not provide security to him. She said
that the medical report had confirmed murder but still upper caste people were
building pressure to remove the provisions of atrocities act from the FIR. She
said that the CBI should probe the case as she does not trust the investigation
being conducted by the Sirmaur police. She also demanded proper security to the
two eyewitnesses of the murder.
In June, Jindan had held a press
conference in Shimla, where he exposed the irregularities in providing BPL
certificates in his village and alleged that Jaiprakash (the prime accused in
the murder, who also drove the Scorpio over Jindan) had illegally obtained BPL
certificates for his well-to-do relatives and on their basis they got
government jobs.
Jindan obtained all these details using
the RTI Act 2005. After this expose, Jaiprakash’s relatives lost their jobs and
they held this against Jindan. After his murder on September 7, the police had
first nabbed two persons and then a third a few days later. A special
investigation team headed by ASP (Nahan) Virender Thakur is investigating the
case and had lodged an FIR under Section 302 (murder) as well as Section
3(2)(5) of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Prevention of Atrocities
Act.
