Nagpur Today: Nagpur: Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
Right to
Information (RTI) provides transparency in structure and helps in control
corruption. However the RTI Act doesn’t keep the identity of applicant
anonymous and hence the identity is revealed as soon as the RTI is filed. As a
result, conscientious and well meaning citizens are attached for acting
rightly.
In an
audacious act, two goons allegedly attached RTI Activist Kamlesh Shah, twice on
Monday. First incident happened in front of railway station when two persons
approached him on a bike and kicked his two-wheeler. However the other incident
happened near his home where the same goons attacked him again. Shah has
approached Lakadganj police station to file a complaint.
“After the
first interaction with goons on Railway Bridge, somehow I suspected their
further moves. Thus refusing Central Avenue road I took Mominpura road and
approached Gandhibagh square. However when I reached Telephone exchange square,
I saw same goons who was waiting for me near my resident. They again attached
me however I somehow managed to escaped from their clutches” reveled Kamlesh
Shah to Nagpur Today.
The activist
also revealed that, he has been through such circumstances back in 2016 when a
pulser biker rammed his bike into his.
He also told
NT that, he had filed last RTI against Kukreja builders seeking details of
infinity project. So they might be the prime suspect behind this act.
Toram
Harishkumar Naidu, RTI activist expressed his anguish on such incident saying
“I’m planning to write letters right from city’s commissioner to Prime Minister
Narendra Modi seeking answers to this quest.
RTI act is
designed to reveal corruption however it has always failed when it comes to
implementation due to casual approach of administration. As per customized
rules the RTI should have its respond within a month. However the
administration which operates under the supervision of Information Commissioner
somehow manages to delay the information with lame excuses.”
An investigation
will be carried out and CCTV footages at the spot will be scrutinized, informed
Lakadganj police.
