The real
estate industry, hardly a transparent one, will have to deal with more of its
details being released in the public domain. The Maharashtra Real Estate
Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has uploaded on its website all the RTI
applications it has received since its inception in May 2017, seeking
information on housing projects in the state.
The
responses, applicants' names, date of application and other details sought and
released under the Right To Information Act have been put up online. RTI
activists have welcomed the move, but recommnded that a search option be made
available.
The process
of releasing the applications received under RTI and their responses online
started from August 1, in a boost for transparency and to avoid repetitive
applications.
