The Central
Information Commission has slammed the PGI for ‘poor handling of the RTI
matters by officials.’ The commission referring to an appeal asked PGI director
to take steps to improve the state of affairs and avoid further occurrence of
improper submission and lack of information.
“...considering
the failure of PIO in addressing the RTI query, the commission directs Registry
of this Bench to send a copy to the Director PGI, Prof Jagat Ram in order to apprise him about the poor
handling of the RTI matters by his officials,” said the commission in its order.
“..The
commission finds it necessary to take steps to improve the state of affairs and
avoid further occurrence of improper submission and lack of preparedness,
knowledge about facts of the case..,” added the order.
The order was
issued based on a complaint filed by a female Nitasha Rani, who was did not
receive satisfactory reply to her RTI application.
