Times of India: Bhopal: Sunday, July 15, 2018.
On Friday,
CBI completed three years of its Vyapam investigation, only to be confronted
with an unsolved mystery have several files pertaining to the scam gone missing
from Gajra Raja Medical College in Gwalior?
For the last
two years, police are investigating whether the documents have actually gone
missing and if yes, who is responsible. Vyapam whistleblower Ashish Chaturvedi,
who was the first to raise the alarm on the missing files, wants an FIR to be
registered.
In 2015,
Chaturvedi sought copies of several documents pertaining to Vyapam scam from
Gajra Raja Medical College under RTI. On January 19, 2016, the college
administration said that the documents he sees are missing. In June that year,
he made a complaint at Jhansi Road police station, saying these documents are
important evidence in the Vyapam scam and if they are missing, an FIR should be
registered against the person responsible for maintaining those records.
Local police
investigation has got nowhere in the last two years. Jhansi Road police station
in-charge Pankaj Tiwari told TOI, “The case is under investigation,” and
refused to say anything else.
Among the
documents that Chaturvedi sought under RTI are the attendance register of
employees for August 2011, the application made by an accused to the medical
college for documents, and copies of two letters written by college officials
regarding the Vyapam scam. “These are important documents and are evidence in
several Vyapam cases in which prominent people are accused. The documents have
been deliberately misplaced as part of a criminal conspiracy and legal action
should be taken against officials responsible for this,” Chaturvedi alleged.
