During a
one-day workshop conducted at the police’s Recruit Training Centre in Sector
26, various provisions of Right to Information Act, 2005 (RTI) were discussed
in detail. As many 105 police officers took part in the programme, which saw
deputy district attorney (legal) of Chandigarh, Atul Sethi, throwing light on
the topic. In a lecture, delivered by Sethi, several case studies were
presented. Also, the officers holding positions of Central Public Information
Officers (CPIO), Assistant Central Public Information Officers (ACPIO), reader
Staff etc were sensitized about their duties as stated in the act. The amended
sections of RTI Act, 2005 were also discussed, attempting to create better
implementation of the act. Also, the cops were apprised on the process of
filing a proper reply in connection with providing information and records
under the RTI queries.
