Teachers’
unions to use RTI to check irregularities in postings
The teachers’
unions have decided to constitute a five-member internal committee to inquire
into the misuse of preferential category by the teachers with false medical
certificates to secure postings of their choice during the transfers and
counselling programme in Karimnagar district.
Several
teachers unions like TRTF, STU, GHMA, GTA have conducted an emergency meeting
in Karimnagar town on Monday.
They passed a
resolution to collect information under the Right to Information Act of the
application forms submitted by the teachers under preferential category and
demand the government to take criminal cases against the teachers and the
doctors for issuing fake medical certificates.
TRTF leader
M. Prathap Reddy, STU leader K. Ramesh, PRTU leader J. Mahender Reddty, GHMA
leader Ch. Pradhyunma Kumar and others participated in the meeting. They warned
the teachers, who misled the government with false medical certificates, of
stern departmental action. They also urged the State govt. to continue the old
manual system for the transfers and counselling of teachers instead of the
proposed web counselling, which was confusing the teaching community as the
government had failed to conduct demonstration of web counselling methods to
create awareness among the teachers.
