Reval revenue doesn’t suffer despite a 50% cut in charges

Slashing revaluation charges by 50% has not really seen a dip in the revenue of the University of Mumbai, which raked in Rs 4.8 crore in 2016-17. By the end of 2017, the collection for the first semester was already Rs 1.97 crore.
Use of the Right to Information (RTI) Act by activist Vihar Durve revealed that the additional charge levied for a photocopy earned the university Rs 15.3 lakh in 2016-17 and Rs 7.9 lakh in the first half of 2017-18. This, after slashing the revaluation and photocopying charges by 50%. The charge for revaluation after the discount is Rs 250, and to obtain an answer script photocopy a student needs to pay Rs 50.
In the previous three years, the university earned Rs 7.9 crore as revaluation and photocopying charges. That is when the revaluation charge was Rs 500 and the photocopy cost was Rs 100.
