Bharat
Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), in response to an RTI query, has stated that
it doesn’t seek any extra amount above the sale price as delivery charges.
BPCL
Territory Manager Rajesh Kumar, while providing information under Right to
Information Act, 2005, stated that the sale price included delivery charges.
“Rs 21.5 is being taken as delivery charges and it is already included in the
sale price. However, if one takes refill delivery from godown, he or she can get
the rebate of the same on the sale price,” the reply states.
The RTI query
was filed by one Jagjit Singh, a resident of Sultanwind road.
An LPG
consumer, Bhupinder Singh, said employees engaged in delivering cylinders
didn’t not buy the suggestion that the selling price included the cost of
delivery. “They refuse to deliver the refill if they are not paid delivery
charges above the selling price,” he said.
He added that
they didn’t give any receipt of the said charge. There are over four lakh LPG
consumers in the city and the gas distributors are making money in crores, he
said, adding that the company must take a note of it.
Residents say
gas distributors have no fear of the law as they tend to operate as per their
whims and fancies.
