The Tribune: Bathinda: Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
The Right to
Information (RTI) section on the Municipal Corporation, Bathinda, (MCB) website
has not been updated for a long time as it is still showing names of officials
who retired long ago.
In the RTI
list of officials on the website, Anil Garg has been shown as Municipal
Commissioner, whereas he was transferred from here in May last year.
It also shows
assistant commissioner Kamal Kant Goyal as public information officer, whereas
he retired from service last year.
It has listed
Kishore Bansal as corporation engineer but he was also transferred from here
last year.
It has listed
superintendent Harbans Lal as assistant public information officer, but he also
retired last year.
Makhan Lal is
shown as tax superintendent when he has been shifted as superintendent of the
MCB last year.
Softel
Solution Company has been given the contract to maintain the MCB website, but
officials have to inform about the changes in content or about the transfers of
officials to the company, which probably is not done.
Madan Lal of
NGO Jago Grahak Jago has lodged a complaint over the issue at the Chief
Minister’s office and with the MCB through e-mail.
He has asked
why new names and designations have not been uploaded on website under Section
4(1)(b) of the RTI Act since long as information about 5 out of 9 officials of
the MCB is wrong on the website.
He has also
demanded strict action against the officials concerned.
Talking to
Bathinda Tribune, he also stated that due to misinformation, people who file
RTI pleas to seek information from the MCB are confused about the appellate
authority and the public information officer.
Mayor Balwant
Rai Nath said it was wrong if it was not updated for a long time. He said he
would immediately ask the officials to update and correct the information.
