Free Press Journal: Mumbai: Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
The charitable trust named Rajasthani Seva Sangh running an educational institution at Andheri J B Nagar Chakala is fighting for more than a decade against a hotel ‘Gopal Krishna’ claiming it as illegal.
The educational institution has both school and college, along with other management courses. Around 7,000 students are part of the institution currently. However, the lives of all students along with staff, teacher is in danger due to the adjoining hotel which shares the school outer premises.
Dr. Vinod Tibrewala, the trustee of the institution while speaking to Free Press Journal stated that the hotel structure is illegal. “We sought information from Right To Information(RTI) about the No Objection Certificate (NOC) of fire department whether they have or not. The RTI replied that they don’t have any such fire NOC. But immediately after six days the hotel has been provided the fire NOC but with 43 conditions. However, the conditions are not been followed properly,” accused trustee Tibrewala.
Defending the allegations made by the trustee of the educational institution, the owner of the hotel Sudhakar Shetty said they have complied all fire safety conditions. “We have all permission from all concerned government body. The educational institution members are trying to take advantage of Kamala Mill tragedy, as earlier too during hotel Kinara they raised objection but did not succeed. As Bombay High Court did give them any relief as they were unable to prove the irregularities,” said Shetty.
He further added he is into hotel business from last 50 years and believe in professionalism and cannot endanger lives. Meanwhile, the Andheri East civic ward Assistant Commissioner(AC) Prashant Sapkale stated soon action will be initiated after inspection and if any irregularity is found then it will be demolished with immediate effect.
